Every Mind Matters
The new 'Every Mind Matters' website was just launched by Public Health England, in the section on Wellbeing there are 5 recommendations of which number 2 is to 'Be in the present' or be mindful.
What's interesting to me is that this is represented not by an image of someone meditating, but walking with the sun shining and a duck next to them. There is this implicit sense that we all have that walking in nature helps us to be present, using our different senses we can see the light, feel the warmth of the sun on our skin, hear the quacking of a duck and feel our body moving. Despite this, mindful walking or forest bathing seems to be new to most people, perhaps because these activities make being present intentional acts rather than something that just happens.
